| I hate it. |

I hate second shift. I hate it SO MUCH I can hardly stand it.
(It's five thirty. The baby has been up for an hour. Tom got home an hour before that. I KNOW the child would not have woken up if Tom had been here all or even most of the night, but that's too damn late in his sleep cycle and the shift in the house wakes him up and it's too much sleep for him to go back down right away.)
This wasn't our choice, and we were lied to, and that makes it truly horrible. I hate being trapped. |

*sigh* What is, is. I've had a yogurt and caught up on LJ, and I'm calm again now. I'm probably going to try and get some sleep on the couch. It's another day. |

Going through the stuff in the garage is going to have to wait; we're off to by a new TV. (On credit. *sigh*) Will has figured out how to defeat the babyproofing on the one we have (which is actually my mom's; we traded her ours for this one, which is bigger), and because of the way the buttons are, he is NEVER going to leave it alone, thus making life a nightmare unless we fix the problem. So. Our actual TV is the one Tom bought when he was a teenager and getting ready to leave home, so it's not like we've been spendy TV-wise. And we'll finally have a flat screen! Assuming, of course, we can find one with nicely inaccessible buttons, buttons we can turn off, or none at all for that matter. :P I suppose this is a milestone for Will; his first official defeating of an official baby-proofing. Joy. :P |

| TV! |

There is a 32" LCD HDTV sitting in our kitchen. It cost us $800 (12 months no interest) at Best Buy. Dude. But we will never, ever, ever have to get another TV. :P We tried to buy a tube TV, but the selection over 20" sucks and we were limited by our entertainment center, too, and the few there were were too wide. (We have a 27" in there now and have gotten used to it.) The 32" LCD HD will give us a similar viewing area to the 27" tube, and was only about $140 more than the 27" LCD HD. We also got a wall mount and some stuff to hide the cords.
Of course, now we don't need the entertainment center (oh, dear unit, you have served us well!), and we DO need wall-mount shelves for the other components (been researching that this afternoon/evening), which is more money, but at this point, hey.
So! Oh, my. It will be nice to reduce the area all this stuff takes up; we have a tiny living room.
In the meantime, thanks to continuing mayhem with the old TV, I have resorted to using non-toxic superglue to reattach the babyproofing thing. I don't know if it's gonna hold, but at least I've had a little peace. Will didn't nap properly this afternoon, so he's snoozing now, but I'm gonna wake him up shortly in the hopes of sleeping tonight. :P |
